kimekomi ornaments and other fun crafts

For a short time only, and in limited supply, I’ve got these adorable Whimsical Kitties egg ornaments up for grabs in my Etsy store! They come in sets of 3, one in each color: green, pink, and light blue, just like the ones in the picture. Want to make them yourself? Keep reading for more information about the fabric and a link to the pattern I used!

Who wouldn’t melt seeing cute kitties playing in a field of colorful flowers? They’re just so joyful and carefree, spreading happiness and warmth all around. Their playful spirit mixed with the vibrant blooms is like a happy dance that brings joy and contentment to anyone who sees it.

For these cute spring ornaments, I went with a flowery fabric with a dark background. It’s got a print of gray cats chilling in the grass and flowers, all done in a sweet, artsy style (KITTY GARDEN by Dear Stella; DCJ1601). To mix things up, I paired it with some speckled gold blender fabrics from the “Shimmer” series by Northcott, in soft pastel colors that complement the kitty print. And to top it all off, I used gold cord end bead caps to match the gold metallic dots on the blender fabrics. Pure purrfection!

The pattern I used is a simple stripes pattern with 3 wider panels separated by 3 narrow stripes. I wanted to make sure the kitty fabric was used effectively, so I only put one cat motif on each egg. The other two panels are covered with the floral background only – and it looks just as cute! If you want to try making the same pattern, take a look at my how-to post “uneven stripes – 3+3” for step-by-step instructions.
